The entire feature clocks in at just 62 minutes, and there's no grandiosity to speak of. They beat them up, throw them out of their home and force her to get married to a man from a higher social status. Vicky's mother is overworked, and overworked mothers have been known to get crazy. In this case, Vicky's mother goes crazy in response to the way her daughter is being treated. She starts pulling people off the streets and beating them up in revenge for the wrongs they've committed against Vicky and her family. The rest of Phoonk is about how Vicky joins his mother's streetfighting squad and exacts his own brand of justice when they're not around.
